How do we MEASURE OR CALCULATE VELOCITY used to calculate
REYNOLDS NUMBER??
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
REYNOLD NUMBER : It means rate of flow.
Re = p VD/u
Where
Re = Reynolds Number, v = Velocity of flow in m/s, d =
diameter of pipe in m, p = density of fluid in Kg / M³,, u
= Viscosity of fluid.
Turbulent or laminar flow is determined by the
dimensionless Reynolds Number.
The Reynolds number is important in analyzing any type of
flow when there is substantial velocity gradient (i.e.,
shear.) It indicates the relative significance of the
viscous effect compared to the inertia effect. The Reynolds
number is proportional to inertial force divided by viscous
force.
• laminar when Re < 2300
• transient when 2300 < Re < 4000
• turbulent when 4000 < Re

Answer / jothi
In addition to the above,
Laminar flow shows a parabolic flow while a Turbulent flow
shows an irregular flow. This can be seen when you put a
piece of floating material like paper, small wood etc on
the flowing liquid.
But for Transient or the Partial flow, its normally based
on the assumptions, even if we know the Reynolds number,
which includes the type of Liquid, its viscosity, and
impurities too.

Answer / monu
row d v/ myu
where myu is viscosity d = dnsity and v= velocity that
eqation gives reynolds number.......moreover if reynolds
number is high .....fluid is a good one with low
conductivity and low viscosity

I saw one P&ID 6" control valve has been connected with 8" process line, and 2" valve also connected in parallel with 6" valve. why the 2" valve connected in parallel, Is there any technical reason. please clarify. With Regards-Kittu
WHY WE NOT USE 2-20mA,1-20mA,3-20mA or 10-50mA SIGNAL? INSTEAD OF 4-20mA.

Steve said that "An eddy-current probe works by passing an alternating current through a coil of wire and measuring the coil’s impedance" while we are using -24 Volt DC , So I am confused about DC and AC. Plz .
