The Transmission of Electricity is done at 220 KV and not
less than that inorder to reduce the transmission losses
and give the end user a nominal voltage.

coz, to transmit the same power if we go for higher voltage
and lesser current losses will reduce.also somewhere we
have to standardize the voltage level to form a uniform
grid all over the india for easyness & redendancy in the
manufacturing of the equipments.
