If excitation will increase, then what will be the effect
on power factor? Will it decrease or increase?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
it will depend upon a machine.
alternator:
excitation current will increase means power factor will decrease bcoz E is increased & resultant E induced and load current phase angle is reduced so power factor reduced
synchronous motor
on over excitation it will increase a power factor.

it depends on the machine. If it is a motor and if we
increase excutation power will shift from lagging to
leading.as we increse the excitation angle will first
decrease as in lagging side than angle will increase in
leading side and hence the power factor will initially may
be .8 lagging than .9L,.95L,1 than .95 leading ,.9Ld,.8Ld
