KVAR= KW(TAN(COS(-1)#e)- TAN(COS(-1)#d) )
#e= EXISTING P.F.

capacitor bank value is calculated in KVAR
From Power Triangle,
KVAR = Sin(phi) * KVA
Desired Power factor = 0.96 (say)
cos(phi)=0.96
phi = cos(inv)0.96
phi= 36.86
Sin(phi)= 0.28
If the transformer rating is 1250 KVA (say)
KVAR = 0.28*1250
= 350

desired & initial/ existing cos-phi.

I don't know the correct formula. But in practical we
applying 30% of our full load(i.e transformer capacity).
