what is the effect of connecting three phase supply lines
to three phase auto transformer output terminals through a
fuse of 10Amp and a circuit breaker (MCB). Is this
connection permanently destroy the transformer?
Answer / guest
1)Why would you want to connect the supply lines to the
output of an autotransformer?
2)The reversal of what you have chosen will happen. that is
if you had connected the higher than normal tapping of the
transformer with the supply than you will get a lower supply
at the input side.
3a)The 10amp fuse and MCB connected depends on how big is
your autotxformer.
3b)When you connect an MCB OR a fuse to a 3 phase
transformer and if one of the fuses or MCB breaks than single
phasing happens in the circuit which is not good.If you must
protect use a three pole reliable MCB only.
