M15, M20, M30-M120 are the grades of CONCRETE. M stands for Mix. The numbers after M represents the STRENGTH OF THE CONCRERTE attained after 28 days of curing. say if it is M20, then the strength of that particular concrete will be 20N/mm2 (Newton per square millimetre)......

M refers to the Mix. The number followed after M refers to the Characterstic compressive strength obtained of concrete casted in 150 x 150 x 150 mm standard moulds after 28days. Ex. M15 is 15 N/Sq.mm is the Characterstic Compressive Strength after 28 days reqd.
