for lamps you can use 1.5mm wire .
for ordinary sockets in rooms use 2.5 mm ((but the supply
wire from mains switch to distribution box should be 4 mm ))
for kitchen ,A.C , water heater use 4mm wire ..
this is in short .if you need mor info. write me .
