BILATERAL NETWORK
A bilateral element has same relation between voltage and current for the two possible directions of the current.
Example: Resistor.
UNILATERAL NETWORK
A unilateral element has different relation between voltage and current for the two possible directions of the current.
Example: si and ge diods,vaccum diods.

The ckt in which the properties or characteristics will not change w.r.t. direction of operarion is bilateral ckt. Eg-transmission line.
And the revrse is unilateral ckt. Eg-diode.
