How we can do the linearity test for Bently Naveda
Vibration Probe?
Answer / ahmed sabry
first, we have 3 main types of Bently vibration probes:
1 - Proximity probe
2 - Accelerometer probe
3 - Key phasor probe
For proximity probe, we have 2 types:
1 - displacement probe for axial forces measurement.
2 - velocity probe for radial forces measurement.
Both tyes of probes are calibrated using a suitable calibration kit supplied by the vendor, the calibration kit simulate the shaft vibration and can be used to check/adjust the probe and the monitor.
I have a practical experience with 3300 system which give the output through "proxomiter" from terminals output & ground - for normal case it has to give "-10 vdc" and we have 200 mv for every 1 mil diplacement.
This is an example of used calibration kit:

==========
If we need to Check/calibrate the rest of the vibration loop (monitor check), We will need a function generator & multimeter.
For the monitor we will inject in the Monitor card by the function generator a combination voltage of -7 dc voltage with AC voltage with suitable freq.(follow the manual to specify the values of AC, DC and freq.).
For axial vibration monitor we will vary the DC amplitude and check the results on the monitor.
For radial vibration monitor we will vary the AC amplitude and check the results on the monitor.
Best of luck
