Endurance test is a fatigue test in which repeated cycles of compressive and tensile stresses are applied on either side of the sample. This test is done for many samples at different stresses. The load vs number of stress cycles to failure is plotted.
It is observed that the graph becomes parellel to x axis (no of cycles). This shows that it has reached a stress below which there is no fatigue failure for any number of stress cycles..that stress is called the endurance limit.
