why in transformers voltage given is in the multiple of 11 ..

Answer / k.prakashchandra

The answer given by me is wrong as 110V DC is equivalent to
110 Vrms AC.But form factor= rms value/absolute average
value and is = 1.11.If you take DC voltage is as average
value itself then Vrms=1.11 DC volts which is wrong as the
formula applies to only sinusoidal AC.Considering the line
voltage drop ,the voltage could have been increased to 110 V
from 100V in USA which was the first country to utilize
electricity.

why in transformers voltage given is in the multiple of 11 ..

Answer / k.prakashchandra

The early usage of electricity was by 100V DC bulbs. After
AC was introduced the same bulbs were used with 110 AC
supply as 100V DC is equivalent to 110V AC applying the form
factor.Thereafter simple ratios were applied for transformers.

Can u explain : how capacitor act when the supply is given is a.c and d.c. I know that when d.c supply is given then the capacitor charges and becomes open circuited. But please say about when a.c is given. I have seen that when a.c supply is given ,it charges and discharges, But when we plug in capacitor to our daily supply and take it out ,then we join those wires spark will appear, which seems charge is present ,but when a.c is given it should charge and discharge
