What is the main difference between Cavitation and Flashing?
Answer / akhil pawar
in flashing, upstream pressure decreases to vana contracta
point.at this point, pressure is called as vena contracta
pressure.after this point , pressure recovery starts but its
not that enough to take down stream pressure above the
vapour pressure. means downstream press< vapour press.as a
result bubbles are formed and they remain there ,not
collapas.this is flashing, combination og liquid and vapour
flow at downstram.
in CAVITATION also, same situation arises.
only difference is downstream pressure is > vapour pressure,
therefore bubbles formed are burst.
