Flag is a register memory of microprocessor.it contains the status of the result obtained after the execution of instruction that is stored in accumulator....
in simple words,flag contains the status either the last operation results in positive bit or negative bit

It is set of flip -flop(which no. is depending on the microprocesur type).ex.-as m/c 8085 have five no.of f/f so 8085 have 5 flags. Flagr show the status of result ,as positive or negitive sign in o/p and ets.
