ROUTER 1: (Hostname – R1) R1(config)#username R2 password CCNA2 R1(config)#interface serial 1/1 R1(config-if)ip address 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 R1(config-if)#lock rate 64000 R1(config-if)#encapsulation ppp R1(config-if)#ppp authentication pap R1(config-if)#ppp pap sent –username R1 password CCNA1 R1(config-if)#no shutdown ROUTER 2: (Hostname – R2) R2(config)#usename R1 password CCNA1 R2(config)#interface serial 1/1 R2(config-if)#ip address 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0 R2(config-if)#encapsulation ppp R2(config-if)# ppp authentication pap R2(config-if)# ppp pap sent –username R2 password CCNA2 R2(config-if)#no shutdown Now problem is that, after configure the command “ppp authentication pap” the “Line protocol” status goes down on each router. But when I disable this command using “no ppp authentication pap”, the “Line Protocol” status goes up. What could be the problem, can anyone explain it plzzz….!!! Thanks in Advance…!! Shahin..

Question { 8981 }

Of the following switching types, which one has the highest
latency?

A.) Cut-through

B.) None

C.) Store-and-forward

D.) Fragment Free

Answer

Store-and-forward method has highest latency.

As it pulls the whole frame into its buffer & then check the
CRC. It takes time to pull frame in buffer & check CRC.

This is default switching method for all DISTRIBUTION LAYER
switches.

Bridge support only Store-and-Forward switching method.

Question { 3905 }

With distance vector routing protocols, it is never useful
to send

the same routing update packet back out the same interface
that it was

learned. This concept is called what?

A.) Holddown timers

B.) Poison Reverse

C.) Count to infinity

D.) Split Horizon

E.) Link State

Answer

The concept is called Split Horizon.

It is used to avoid rooting loops in a network.

Basic principle is - "Information about routing path for a
particular packet is never sent back on the interface from
which it was received".

In simple sense, we can say "DON'T TELL ME WHAT I JUST TOLD YOU"

E.) access-list 101 deny tcp 10.10.128.0 0.0.128.255 any eq
telnet

F.) access-list 101 deny tcp 10.10.128.0 0.0.127.255 any eq
telnet

Answer

Mr Tahir, Ur answer is wrong. As of no subnet mask is used
in ACL. It use WILD CARD MASK.

So correct answer wud be A.

access-list 101 deny tcp 10.10.128.0 0.0.63.255 any eq

Question { IBM, 18976 }

What is flow and error control?

Answer

Flow Control: -
In communications, the process of adjusting the flow of
data from one device to another to ensure that the
receiving device can handle all of the incoming data. This
is particularly important where the sending device is
capable of sending data much faster than the receiving
device can receive it.

Error Control: -
Error control is a method that can be used to recover the
corrupted data whenever possible. There are two basic types
of error control which are backward error control and
forward error control. In backward error control, the data
is encoded so that the encoded data contains additional
redundant information which is used to detect the corrupted
blocks of data that must be resent. On the contrary, in
forward error control (FEQ), the data is encoded so that it
contains enough redundant information to recover from some
communications errors.
