2 vessels A and B contain spirit and water in the ratio of
5:2 and 7:6 respectively .find the ratio in which these
mixtures be mixed 2 obtain a new mixture in the vessel
containg spirit and water in the ratio 8:5
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Step (i) : Let C.P. of spirit be Re.1
Given ratio of mixture in A = 5:2
spirit in 1 lit mixture in A = 5/7 lit
C.P of 1 lit mixture in A = Rs. 5/7
Ratio of Mixture in B = 7:6
spirit in 1 litre mixture in B – 7/13 lit
C.P of 1 lit mixture in B = Rs. 7/13
Ratio of new mixture = 8:5
spirit in 1 lit mixture = 8/13
C.P of 1 lit mixture = Rs. 8/13 (Mean price)
Step (ii) : By the rule of allegation,
i. C.P of 1 liter of mixture in A =5/7
ii. C.P of 1 liter of mixture in B = 7/13
iii. Mean price (p) = 8/13
iv. d – m = 5/7 – 8/13 = 9/91
v. m – c = 8/13 – 7/13 = 1/13
Required ratio = 2/91 : 1/13 = 9:7

Let us Consider
First Vessel A Contains 5ml:2ml
second Vessel B Contains 7ml:6ml
when we add these two we get 12ml:8ml (i.e) 3:2
when we add 20ml:12ml ratio of mixture we will
get 8:5 ratio...

If we consider that 3 is 12ml then 8 is how much?
8*12/3 = 32 we get
same way
If we consider that 2 is 8ml then 5 is how much?
5*8/2 = 20 we get
So the new mixture is 32:20 to get ratio 8:5

let us take 5x:2x and 7y:6y
so 5x+7y=8
2x+6y=5 to solve this we get x=19/40
y=7/16 take lcm we get
ratio 35:38........... if it is correct contact through
