Present population of town is 35,000 having males and
females. If The population of males is increased by 6%
and if the population of females is increased by 4%,
then after 1 year the population becomes 36,700.

Ur answer is totally wrong.
Considering total no of males as x and total no of females
as y, we get first eqn as x+y=35000.
Now males are increased by 6% and females by 4%, so we get
2nd eqn as 1.06x+1.04y=36700.
Using simultaneous eqn, we get
No of males=15000
No of females=20000

after 6% and 4% we will have M= 15900 and total F=20800

.06x + .04y = 1700 eq 2.
x= male
y= female
x = 35000-y .....put this eq in eq 2.
therefore,
y = 20,000 in the population of 35000
&
x = 15,000 in the population of 35000
therfore, population in 36,700 is
female 20,800 (4% 0f 20,000 = 800)
male 15,900 (6% of 15,000 = 900)

And then there is raise of 1700 in it
Male =1700*60/100=1020
male = 17500+1020 = 18520
Female= 1700*40/100 =680
Female= 17500+680 = 18180
Male = 18520

at the beginning the population can be denoted as x+y=3500
After 1 year the population becomes x+(x*6/100)+y+(y*4/100)=36700
thus the 2nd equation is 1.06x+1.04y=36700 thus solving both equations we get x=15000,y=20000
Therefore the Final no. females =20800
&males is 15900
