hi all n nitin...
i m writing the link frm where u can get all the material
related t marketing...take print out if ur nt having pc at

nitin, marketing mix definitions of both product n services
were covered by you...
i m giving example of a retail shop t make you understand...
wen we go t a retail shop, what are the product ,prices,
promotion and place of distribution there...
product:-different brands of various items
prices:- retail shops sell the items...they sell items at
that rate were they can get some margin
promotion:- are given by giving discounts, sweepstakes,
coupens etc
place of distribution:-under it comes the wholesalers,
selling their products t the retailers....wholesalers in
turn get products from the manufactures....thus. products
come from manufactures t wholesalers and then t
retailers...and from retailer t consumers...
can you think marketing without any 4 of these?
no..so these r called marketing mix of a product...
Now, we will take another example of a service
comodity....think of a bank...
product:- in bank the product is intangible(can't b
touched)..so service product can't be touched..so we can't
see how how one insurance policy differs from other just by
looking at it...
also the product in services is such that we can't see them
b'fore buying....e.g we r taking insurance policy...the
benefits they r giving can be felt after a very long period
of time....
so, we can say that selling a service is more difficult than
selling of goods....(reason is given above)
do u know that is pakaging n what r its benefits?
we have seen that all the bank products may appear t b
similar initially....bt we have t differentiate nit frm
other products so we pakage it in such a way that it appears
t be superior than other competitor products...
my aim was t make you intrested in reading the topics....

Q: difference between selling and marketing?
Ans: normally both of the terms are taken to be having the
same meaing. but it's not like it.
In selling the emphasis is on increasing the volume of sales
and in marketing the emphasis is on the satisfaction of the
customers.

i would like to draw one very important difference between
selling and marketing:-
marketing is a broad term of which selling is just a
part.....as marketing includes all the processes from
research of the product feasibility in the market upto the
delivery of same to the customers......and these proceeses are:-
1.Market research,i.e,discovering what product, service or
idea customers want.
2.Producing a product with the appropriate features and quality.
3.Pricing of product
4.Promotion of the product
5.Selling and deliver of product
Thus it can be seen that selling is the last step of entire
marketing process....
