It's easy to maintain excel rather than ms word..
u can trace the bug very easily on excel by filtering n can
generate the report by usding pivot table.

For example if we have a test case where in you need to
enter more no of values i.e Valid user id's and
passwords,no of fields in a page... u can creat a hyperlink
and connect to tht...whereas in Word it would be difficult..

Yes It is easy to maintain the test cases in Excel sheet
instead of MS Word and we can easily get the sort and
filter the whatever information we required.we can also
chagne easily which test cases status of the test case.
