Answer / dr. sumita dasgupta
Totipotency is the total genetic potential. It means that
the genetic information present in the entire plant is also
there in each of its cell.Hence, each cell has the
potential to develop into a new plant. In plant tissue
culture this inherent prperty is used. It is expressed when
the cells are provided with proper extenal stimulus which
helps them to revert to their original state and
redifferentiate into a new plant.

Totipotency is genetic capacity of a cell by which cell can
differenciate in different way to give rise new individual
plant......in other words, in cellular characteristic
potential or properties of cell can give rise individual new
generation......
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 12 Yes | 9 No |
each individual cells of plants have the ability to produce
the whole plants. This is applied in plant tissue culture
for to propagate rare plants by the single cells(from any
parts of plant).

Answer / vinod kumar
totipotency means total potantal of a singal cell to give
rise to a complet plant under precise environment.using
this propertey of plant cell whole plant can be obtained
similarley somaclonal varients can also be developed using
stressed condition by the aplication of antibiotca/tocsins
purified from pathogens.
