Generally LoadRunner uses to test the load. ( client-
server, webbased applications,... etc).
Shall we use LoadRunner instead of WinRunner or some other
tools?

You can,
Load runner or any tool is to validate the fucntionality of
the requerments. After analysing the functional requirement
only we send the product(combination of fuctions) to know
the performance. But in Functional tools we cant generate
the users(vitual).
So Loadrunner = n * Functional tools (N=No of users)

First u should know abt load LR and WR. WR is a
functionality and regression testing tool.LR is a load
testing tool.there is no way to use LR instead of WR.

Hi load testing is for testing the load how a application
can bear the load.where as WR is used for functional and
regression testing

we cannot use it completely as a functionality tool.
rather,Functionality under load can be tested by running
several Vusers concurrently. By increasing the amount of
Vusers, we can determine how much load the server can
sustain.

No...not at all bcoz, WR is Functional Tool whereas LR is
Performance Tool

Actually, The Question looks quite confusing.
If the Question is asking about to test ultimately "LOAD",
then definitly, WR is not a tool to do so. We must use any
Perfomance Tools like LR, Jmeter, Open Sta...etc.,.
also, Performace Testing is a Non Functional Activity.
Hence the tools are Non Functional tools. On flip side, the
WR is Pure Functional Tool and hence used to test the
functional requirments.

First we have to understand difference between load Runner
& winruner, winrunner is totally fuctional & regression
testing tool other hand loadrunner is a load testing tool,
so here we cant use the winrunner & loadrunner for same
purpose both are totally different.
