if there are any cosmetic defects in a project like color, alignments..etc all these are considered as low priority and low severity.
consider a web page in that webpage is defect is found in help menu then it is considered as high severity and low priority.
If same ingredients are used to create a product which is known to all for that same product if we change the logo name with different name(like garnier light as garnier soft)then it is known as low severity and high priority.
If the main functionality of an application is effected then we say it as high severity and high priority..eg. if login page is having defect we cant go to next page..

Hi bala,
Severity / Priority decides the importance of rectifying
the defects...whether we can continue with the defect
further or not.
For example when the final output of an application is
detected wrong then PRIORITY of removing the defect is
compulsary..
For example if there are any kind of Spelling mistakes or
allignment mistakes then we can rectify them later and
continue with the process.
Regards,
Raghu
