Why can the allantois be considered an adaptation to terrestrial life?..

Answer / Anamika Pal

The allantois, a diverticulum of the hindgut in amniotes (reptiles, birds, and mammals), is an adaptation for terrestrial life due to its role in excreting nitrogenous wastes as uric acid, which is less water-soluble than ammonia. This allows the organism to conserve water more efficiently on land.
