Other staining methods for mycobacteria include the Auramine-Rhodamine stain, the Fite and Faraco stains, and the Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) stain with decolorization by acid alcohol. The BacTec MGIT 960 System is also a commonly used automated method for detecting mycobacteria.
