Alloys are made with following objects

(a)To increase hardness e.g. Gold and silver are hardened by
addition of copper with it

(b)To lower the melting point

(c)To modify colour

(d) To increase the tensile strength

(e) To make the metal more resistant to corrosions

(f)To get good castings

(g)To get modify chemical activity

You can use a PHAse Diagrams.
