State and prove necessary condition for extreme values of the function f (x,y)
Answer / Sushma Kumari
The necessary condition for extreme values of a function f(x,y) is that the gradient vector of the function must be zero at the critical point. In other words, ∇f = (∂f/∂x, ∂f/∂y) must be zero.
