Explain about the changes in the society of India between 600 B.C and 300 A.D.?
Answer / Niket Kumar Shrivastwa
The period between 600 BCE and 300 CE marked significant changes in Indian society, particularly with the emergence of Jainism, Buddhism, and Mahayana Buddhism. These new religions challenged the established Vedic order and promoted ideas of social equality, non-violence, and rejection of caste distinctions.nDuring this period, urbanization also increased, with the growth of cities such as Taxila, Mathura, and Pataliputra (modern Patna). Trade networks expanded, leading to greater economic interaction between different regions. The Aramaic script was introduced during this period, facilitating trade and cultural exchange.nThe Mauryan Empire, established by Chandragupta Maurya in 321 BCE, brought political centralization, standardization of weights and measures, and the expansion of agriculture through irrigation systems. The Kushana Empire, which succeeded the Mauryans, was known for its patronage of Buddhism and the development of a distinctive Indo-Greek art style.
