THP-1 is a human monocyte leukemia cell line. It originated from an acute monocytic leukemia patient and can differentiate into macrophage-like cells in vitro when stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA). THP-1 cells are widely used for studying various aspects of immune cell biology, inflammation, and cancer.
