Among eukaryotes, yeast is specific to substrates, having higher multiplication rate, easy product recovery, can undergo oxidative as well as fermentative metabolism. it also contain 2micron circle as plasmid , about 50 copies per cell and through which vector construction is possible for genetic engineering.
