There are 3 baskets. one of them have apples, one has
oranges only and the other has mixture of apples and
oranges. The labels on their baskets always lie. (i.e. if
the label says oranges, you are sure that it doesn't have
oranges only,it could be a mixture) The task is to pick one
basket and pick only one fruit from it and then correctly
label all the three baskets.

Take one fruit from box with label mixture. If we see
orange, because the basket lies (it cant have a mixture),
then it has only oranges. The other 2 are labeled apples and
oranges. The one labeled apples,
cannot have oranges inside, cos they are allready been
identified, and because it lies, it cannot have apples either.
So it has a mixture. And we are left with the one labeled
oranges that lies and has apples.

The example given by Subbu is incorrect as in the intial
status he forgot to take oranges in the basket. It should be
like this :
Suppose Initial status
Basket label: mixed apple orange
Item in basket: apple orange mixed
Now pick one item from basket labeled mixed then you will
get apple. So basket labeled apple must have orange and
basket labeled orange must have mixed. Now label according
to them.

Consider, the baskets: APPLE ORANGE MIXTURE
contents: ORANGE MIXTUR APPLE
Take a fruit from the basket mixture, U'll get apple, as
the basket lies u r sure that it is not a mixture so
definitely it has apples, and the basket which was named
orange will not has oranges and so it must have miture of
fruit in it and so obviously the basket which was named as
apple has orange in it, so name them accordingly...

Sriharsha S M, that is incorrect.
If you pick from mixed and get orange then there are only
two solutions.
Label: MIXED APPLE ORANGE
Item: ORANGE MIXED APPLE *OR*
Item: ORANGE APPLE MIXED
Since the label is always a lie then the first is correct.
You do not need two picks just one. Now if there were 4
baskets or more then yes you would need more picsk

It makes no difference which box you choose.
Three boxes are incorrectly labelled, say
Box 1 Apples (A)
Box 2 Oranges (O)
Box 3 Apples and Oranges (M)
so the actual contents of each must be either of
Box 1 O or M
Box 2 A or M
Box 3 A or O
Choose any box, say box 1. If you get an apple, box 1
cannot be O and so must be M.
logically, if box 1 is M, box 2 cannot be M and must be A
and if box 2 is A, Box 3 must be O.
On the other hand, if box 1 produces and orange, the result
would be the same, Box 1=M, box 2=A and box 3=O.
Box 1,
