In satellitism mainly used for the H.influenzae the
oraganism to be detectd is grown along with the S.aureus
that siupplies the necessary heamin and the NAD factor
commonly called as the X and V factors.This test nowdays
have been modified for the species differentiation between
the H.influenzae and H.parainfluenzae.

micronutrients or growth factors .

Must strains of Haemophilus spp does not grow on 5% Sheep Blood Agar, which contains hemin (factor X) but lacks NAD (factor V).
Staphylococcus aureus produce NAD as a metabolic byproduct when grow in a culture media. Therefore, Haemophilus spp may grow on sheep blood agar very close to the colonies of Staphylococcus aureus (as it produces NAD-factor V); this phenomenon is known as satellitism

Hemophilus influenza needs special additional nutrients in media i.e Factor X(heme) and factor V (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). So this factor is provided in chocolate agar which is obtained after heating blood agar.. Also H.influenza is grown along with S.aures which provide NAD so H.influenza grows near it resembling like a satelight...SATELITISM property or colony
