Explain the Translocation and storage of Food ?..

Answer / guest

From the leaves of plants food is translocated to different
storage organs through different channels which extend
through whole length of the plant body. These channels are
sieve tubes and associated cells. In the storage
organs the soluble substance such as proteins, aminoacids,
amines and sugars are converted into insoluble complexes
such as proteins. Strach grains and food is therefore stored
in the form of insoluble complexes.

There is large amount of food material which is
stored in endodermis, xylem parenchyma of the stem. Storage
House is generally made up of cells of parenchyma, which
have thin cellulose. Food material stored in the cotyledons
of seeds or in endosperm is used for growth and development
of embryo. Some roots are also modified for the storage
purpose. These are called as Fusiform, Napiform and conical
roots. Even underground stems are also modified to store
food material. Example of these modified stems are rhizome,
corn, tuber,
