Esters are hydrolyzed by HOH to Carboxylic acids,react with amines to amides,are reduced by hydrides to aldehydes,then to primary-OH,and react with Grignards to tertiary alcohols.You can also use LiAlH4 in the presence of H3O+,in which you will produce alcohol and LiOH.UKZN second year student.hope that helps
