How to convert esters to alcohols?

Answer Posted / mlondi shezi

Esters are hydrolyzed by HOH to Carboxylic acids, react with amines to amides, are reduced by hydrides to aldehydes, then to primary-OH,and react with Grignards to tertiary alcohols. You can also use LiAlH4 in the presence of H3O+,in which you will produce alcohol and LiOH.UKZN second year student.hope that helps
