its polypeptide chain is right handed helix.
the 3 helical strands wrap together into a superhelix
called protofibril.
the superhelical twisting is left handed.
the covalent cross links are contributed by disulphide
bonds.



collagen found in connective tissues such as
tendons,cartilage,bones,and cornea of eye.
its polypeptide chain is left handed.
the 3 helical strands wrap together into a repeating
superhelical structure called tropocollagen.
the superhelical twisting is righthanded.
the covalent links are contributed by a covalent link
between two lys residues.
