name the matrix used in hydrophobic interaction chromatography?????..

Answer / balu

silica columns, Silica beads coupled with different lengths
of alkyl side chain are used for appropriate purpose.
C4 column -shorter alkyl chain (Larger proteins supposed to
have more hydrophobicity and therefore the chains with
shorter length have high chance of interaction. So For
larger proteins are separated based on their proportion of
protein hydrophocity)
C8 and C18- Longer alkyl chain (Smaller proteins or
peptides supposed to have less hydrophobicity and therefore
the chains with longer length have high chance of
interaction. So For smaller proteins or peptides separated
based on their proportion of protein hydrophocity)
