Question { Jindal, 12613 }

WHY IS THE SIZE OF HOLE OF THE EARTH POINT IN THE PLUG
POINT BIGGER THAN PHASE AND NEUTRAL

Answer

I will give u simple example, the tank containing water
with small tap and the other tank with same capacity of
tank and water with big tap. If we open the taps at the
same time the tank with the bigger tap will drain out first
same logic applies to size of hole of the earth point in
the plug.

Question { Honeywell, 10728 }

if the HR asked to me., you have got 92% in higher
secondary but got only 72% in engg whats the reason??what
should i have to say ..please help me..

Answer

dude ask him about his percentage in the engineering and
secondary education, almost everyone will have either ups
or downs in education moreover 72% is not at all bad why
are u worried i cant understand just chill out and give ur
best shot.

Question { Engineers India Limited, 19194 }

why DC current not used in Transformer action?

Answer

some one said dc does not have flux, dc has flux but it is
constant means the polarity remains same incase of ac the
flux always keeps on changing and produces emf in the same
conductor due to self induction and produces emf in the
other conductor which is placed closely to it due to mutual
induction. It is the principle of transformer

Question { 10404 }

what is the different betweem earthing and neutral?

Answer

earthing is for protecting humans from shock if there is
any leakage current flowing thro the body of equipments.
Neutral is to complete the circuit without neutral current
cannot flow thro the load this neutral is earthed at the
star point of distribution transformer and earthing of
transformer and star point of transformer should never be
mixed.

Question { Infotech, 59293 }

how does electrical train works and what type of motors are
used to drive the train?
which level of supply voltage is used?

Answer

guys can anybody explain me how s d train is recieving ac
power when it has only one current collector, train can
recieve only dc power may be it is converted to ac and then
stepped down to lower voltage levels and then again
converted to feed dc motors. Am i correct can some one tell
me.

Question { Bhel, 17863 }

What are the types of Transformer? Name them.

Answer

Types of transformers can be divided into two categories
1) structure
2) application

depending on structure there are two types
i)shell and
ii) core

depending on application there are three types
i)instrument transformers
ii) power transformers
iii) distribution transformers

Question { HSL, 7198 }

What is HT? And specify the range of voltage?

Answer

ht means high tension voltage, ht voltage starts from 6.6kv
onwards to 11kv, 33kv, 66kv, 110kv, 220kv and so on
generally ht are used in transmission and distribtuion in
order to reduce the power loss i.e. when you send power at
high voltages current will be of small proportion and hence
decreasing the size of conductors and also the supporting
structures required to hold the conductors need not too
strong so over all a great amount of cost reduction can be
done by sending power at very high voltages and other than
transmission and distributing section ht voltages are used
for motors of greater capacity around 220kw, 315kw, 900kw.
And same priciple applies to motor as well and more over if
you go for lt voltages for the above range of motors the
insulation required for the stator and armature will be
more because at starting the motor takes 6 to 7 times the
full load current of motor.

Question { 7775 }

How much current does a motor take in no load condition?

Answer

if the motor is good it should take less than 1/3 rd of the
full load current.

Question { Parle, 9066 }

what is the working difference b/w softstarter and
Variable frequency drive ?

Answer

in soft starter you cannot control the speed of motor where
as in vfd drives speed can be varied by giving digital
inputs to the drive via plc. But both can control the
starting torque of the load.

Question { Schneider, 59312 }

what is difference b/w HT & LT and the range of HT & LT ?

Question { Suzlon, 6206 }

What are the different methods of improving power
factor,especially in Wind Sector

Answer

well obviously capacitor bank will be the ideal one but if
you have any motor applications with greater capacity go
for the synchrous motor this will also boost the power
factor of the grid.

Question { 10833 }

What is the Different b\w Circuit Breaker & Isolater

Answer

a circuit breaker will have closing and tripping mechanism
and it can be closed or tripped in remote and where as
isolator will have only fuses and needs to be operated
locally

Is This Answer Correct ?    3 Yes 1 No

Question { 44937 }

why are using bus ducts ? why not using cables

Answer

Normally busducts are used in between secondary side of the
transformer to panel where the distance will be short and
current carrying capacity will be high the busbars used are
generally of greater cross sectional area than the cables,
and also once they are fixed it hardly requires any
maintenance except for tightness in cables you need to do
period check of IR.
