TDS stands for Tax deducted at Source and Chapter XVII of
the Income tax Act, 1961 deals with the matter. New TDS
rates are notified w.e.f.01.10.2009. For new TDS rates

Dear Mr. Jaswant,
Pls note, u have mentioned total rent amount is Rs.21000.00
per month.So pls follw below method
As per govt. order upto Rs.120000.00 no TDS. So u calculate
( 21000*12 months = 252000 - 120000 =132000.)So your
deductable TDS amount is Rs.132000.00 only.
132000/6 months + balance amount is Rs6000.
So u can deduct TDS from OCT-09 amount of Rs.6000*10% = 600.
i.e u have pay to rent amount on OCT-09 is Rs.20400 ( 21000-
600 _ only.
Then from Nov-09 to March-2010 y have to pay rent a/c
cheque amount is Rs.18900( 21000-2100 ) only
