Category 5e (CAT 5e) networking cable is capable of supporting data transfer rates up to 1 Gigabit Ethernet (Gbps). The color of the cable does not affect its speed. However, to achieve a speed of 1 Gbps, a Gigabit Ethernet router and other network components should also be used.
