Priority means Which defect should rectify first.
Severity means Seriousness of the defect.

priority describes the sequence in which defects need to be
rectified ....critical,high,medium and low,
seveority tells the seriousness of the defect depending
upon the customer requirement and company circumstances
example:
when ever some part of the module is not released
to the testing department,as it is under construction
testes will useally rise it as a high priority but
development department will treat it as least priority.

on the cusomer requirement they will assign the priority
Seviority : Seviority means the defect how seriously
effecting the functionality .. it will be assigned Test

Severity status is given by the tester.
Priority is how fast the defect has to be fixed. It may be
classified as low priority, moderate priority and high
priority. Priority status is given by the team lead.

Severiorty: Seriousness of the defect wrt to functionality
Example:
High -> Without resolving the defect we are unable to
continue the testing
Medium -> cumpulsory to solve the defect but able to
cintinue the testing
Low -> May or May not be resolved
Priorty: Importance of the defect wrt to customer
Example :
High -> User Interface Bugs(low severiorty)
Spelling mistake(High priority)
Improper Allignment(low priority)
