What is the difference between periderm and bark?

What is the difference between periderm and bark?..

Answer / Mudassar Hasan

Periderm and bark are both protective layers of plant tissue, but there are differences between them. Periderm develops from the cambium layer (the active growth zone between the phloem and xylem) as a response to injury or in response to external factors like temperature and humidity. It is composed of cork cells, parenchyma cells, and various supporting tissues. Bark, on the other hand, consists primarily of dead tissue that includes the periderm, cork cambium, phloem, and xylem, as well as any lichens or epiphytes growing on the plant.
