Explain the evolution of plants?

Explain the evolution of plants?..

Answer / Pankaj Singh Rana

The evolution of plants began approximately 460 million years ago with the emergence of charophytes, a group of green algae. These organisms developed an internal cellular structure and a cell wall made of cellulose, which laid the foundation for terrestrial plants. The first land plants were probably small and moss-like, but over time, they evolved into more complex forms like ferns, seed ferns, gymnosperms (conifers), and angiosperms (flowering plants). The evolution of vascular tissue enabled plants to grow larger and reproduce sexually. Additionally, the development of roots, stems, and leaves facilitated nutrient and water uptake, photosynthesis, and the colonization of diverse habitats.
