let the speed of the car be xkm/h during the up journey...

A car covers a certain distance taking 7 hours in forward journey. During the return journey, speed..

Answer / sankar adhikari

Let the speed is X km per hour
so total journey = 7 x X = 7X

so 7X = 5(X+12)
7X - 5X = 60
X = 30

So, Total journey = 7 x 30 = 210 k.

30 x 7 = 210 k.
(30+12) = 42 x 5 = 210 km.

A car covers a certain distance taking 7 hours in forward journey. During the return journey, speed..

Answer / suchi teegala

speed = distance / time

let the distance be x
during forward journey ,
time is given as 7hrs
and let the speed be y
therefore , y=x/7
during return journey
since the distance travelled is same in both directions
, here also we will consider the distance as x
now the speed is increased by 12kmph so the speed is y+12
now the time taken is 5 hrs
therefore , y+12=x/5
on solving the both equations
x=7y and
5y+60=x
we get x as 210 km
total distance - distance in forward journey + distance in
return journey
=x+x=2x
i.e., =210+210
=420 km is the answer
