To tarique:

HS high severity of the bugs are given keeping in mind to
wat xtend that bug is creating problems.

Example:The home link in not functioning;

HS and HP (if there are no other mensa to go back to the
home page).

The application crashes on submitting login and password.

HS HP

Now Product is mis spelled in the application header.

LS HP.

Severity and priority depends on various factors like User
path,criticality of the bug,repeatability.

Suppose any Button on the interface through which personal/
secerate
record of org. get accessed & tht button is available only
for the top MGT
ppls. But aas defect in the system it's also made available
to all ppls.

So just think about it it's have high severity coz org.
secerates can be theft frm thr & tht wil definity affect
the org. as a whole if they loose thr secerates to thir
enimies. High priority bcoz it's dangerious if in hands of
all so need to fix as soon as or can say as early as
possible.

I guess there are lot of confusion with the answers above.
Here's the clarification:
"Major functionality of the application is broken" becomes a
HP & HS issue. Why? read below:-

High Priority: (Decided by the business)
This becomes a high priority issue for the business when
they analyze the number of impacted users/customers using
this functionality.

High Severity: (Decided by the Tester/Manager)
This becomes a High Severity issue for the tester/manager
because there is a huge deviation observed in the
application when compared with the requirements (assuming
requirements are thoroughly reviewed).

if suppose there is a road accident the people who went
into serious condition will give high priority and hight
seviority.

in functional if suppose there is a customer meeting about
the project, the simple things like spell check of login
screen etc will have the high seviority and high priority.

If there there are 100 test cases which need to be executed in one day and out of them 50 are of Critical Severity, 30 are Major and 20 are Minor. What would be your approach?
