Differentiate between Paleolithic cultures and Mesolithic cultures.
Answer / Rajeev Kumar Gaur
Paleolithic cultures refer to the Stone Age societies that existed from around 2.5 million years ago until the advent of agriculture around 10,000 BCE. They were characterized by a reliance on hunting and gathering for subsistence, the use of stone tools, and the absence of permanent settlements. Mesolithic cultures, on the other hand, emerged after the end of the last Ice Age (around 10,000 BCE) and preceded the Neolithic Revolution. Mesolithic societies continued to rely on hunting and gathering but began to show evidence of greater permanence in their settlements and a more diverse toolkit that included bone and antler tools as well as stone. The Mesolithic period saw the development of new technologies such as fishing nets, bow and arrow, and pottery.
