Let s be the total sum and x be the amount given to the first person. We have three equations: x + (x + 10) = s - 10 (since the second person gets Rs 10 more than the first), (x + 10) + (x + 20) = s - 20 (since the third person gets Rs 10 more than the second), and (x + 20) + (x + 30) = s - 30 (since the fourth person gets Rs 10 more than the third). Solving these equations, we get x = (s - 60) / 4.
