An apple seller is having some apples. He is selling half of the apple what he has plus half the apple to the first customer. In the same way he sells the remaining apple to 7 customers. After selling to 7 customers, he has no apples with him.

Let's denote the initial number of apples as A. The apple seller divides A into two parts: half for the first customer (A/2), and the other half is A - (A/2). Then, he sells this remaining part to 7 customers. So, the number of apples sold to the first customer is A/2, and the total number of apples sold to all 8 customers is (A/2) + ((A - (A/2)) * 7) = (A/2) + (7A/2 - 1) = (16A/2) - 1. Since the apple seller has no apples left, this means A = (16A/2) - 1, which implies A = 1. Thus, the apple seller had initially 1 apple.
