Why do data link layer protocols position the checksum in the trailer and not in the header ?
Answer / Sanjeev Kumar Verma
The checksum is placed in the trailer because it should only cover the entire data packet, including the data itself and any error-checking information added by higher layers. By placing the checksum at the end (trailer), it ensures that all the data and any additions made during transmission are included in the calculation.
