Explain ATM reference model.

Explain ATM reference model...

Answer / Tarun Goel

The ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Reference Model consists of five layers: Physical Layer, ATM Layer, ATM Adaptation Layer (AAL), and User-Network Interface (UNI) and Network Node Interface (NNI). The Physical Layer is responsible for the transmission of raw bits. The ATM Layer handles virtual circuits and cell structure. AAL layers provide the conversion between ATM cells and various types of user data. UNI and NNI define the interface between the network and its users or other networks.
