For transfection of hematopoietic cells, viral vectors such as retroviral (lentivirus and murine leukemia virus), adenovirus, and AAV (Adeno-Associated Virus) are commonly used. For infection with bacterial vectors, electroporation or chemical transfection with plasmids encoding the gene of interest can be employed.
