Compare the two Viruses Baculovirus vs. Flavivirus ?
Answer / Anjul Kumar Pal
Baculoviruses and Flaviviruses are very different types of viruses: 1) Baculoviruses are dsDNA viruses that infect insects, particularly Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), while Flaviviruses are ssRNA viruses that primarily infect vertebrates, including humans. 2) Baculovirus replication occurs in the host nucleus, leading to cell lysis, whereas Flavivirus replication takes place in the cytoplasm without causing significant host cell death. 3) Baculoviruses have a complex life cycle that involves budding from the plasma membrane and encapsulation by a protein envelope, while Flaviviruses are enveloped virions that assemble at the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus.
